Happy Birthday Bugs, I hope your 25th year is Great!!

I know this is horribly late, I did have a really good start on it when you were here for your birthday. I’ve been working on the patio all my free time, and I’ve put my drawing on the back burner. But, I kept at it and I hope you like it!!

MN Zoo…

During Kira’s visit this week,  we made a little trip to our favorite haunt, the Minnesota Zoo. I have had a membership to this zoo ever since the kids were little (it really pays to have memberships to places when they are <18 years) and I now have a single +1 membership, so David and I can go whenever we want and when Kira’s around, she gets in free, or I can take a friend with me for free. Whenever we hear the pitter patter of little feet, we will get the Grandparents membership.

I can only go for a little more than two months without a zoo visit, and after that I get an almost overwhelming need to go. ( It’s really kind of strange, this need I  get).  I’ve recently been having  that feeling about the History Museum, I guess I’ll have to back there soon.

I took quite a few pictures, a lot of them didn’t turn out very well, even with a camera that can ‘do it all’ by itself. I always have to putter around, I’m certain THAT has nothing to do with it, so it’s a good thing there are fix-it choices in the pic ture files.

We went through the butterfly exhibit and I got some good pictures of some butterflies I’ve never seen before.

   

LOST...

Last evening I started a commissioned dog portrait, and because I need to have something to both watch and listen to while I draw, I was looking for something good, that I had already seen, because I won't be paying a lot of attention. It took me longer to decide on something to watch than it did to do everything I do when I start a portrait.
I looked on Hulu, I looked on Netflix, I looked at my DVD's, I went back and looked at Hulu again, then I ended up back on Netflix. (I am not joking)
What did I choose???? LOST! I thought I'd start at the very beginning, because it's a very good place to be, and knowing how it finally ends, I think it will be fun to try and catch all the hints that J.J. Abrams and Jeffrey Lieber give us. No matter how many times I watch this show, I do not get tired of it. I only wish they had those little cheater comments at the bottom of the screen so I could actually catch all the hints they throw at us.
I'm sooo excited. The only other show that I find I can watch over and over is CSI, because that is just beyond words (for me at least)

This is my second commissioned name drawing, both for a friend from work. I forgot to take a picture of the first one, but luckily I remembered the second...Laci

This is the latest one for a sweet little baby girl with a mommy named Heidi.

Names...

Tonight is THE night that I finally get my rear in gear and start on the individual name drawings. I've been talking about this for well over a year and so far that's all it's been, talk. Kira and I took a drive (which my car absolutely loved) to Redwing this last Thursday and once more saw those little pictures of artful letters. These happen to be the same letters we've seen in Stillwater and again on Etsy, so she must be selling them. It's just going to take me a while to get them all done, because I will need to make at least two of every letter, and maybe more of the common ones. Then I will need to take pictures of them, scan them, or send them away to get scanned. After that, it depends on how the color takes, I'll either have to have prints made or I'll print them out on my printer. However it's done, the prints will have to look like the originals, or I don't think I'll be happy or confident trying to sell them.
But, I have to at least start, and tonights the night!

Names...

Ok, here we go, finally. I have the finished drawing of Braylin and a new one, Jacob.

Braylin

Vicky is hosting a baby shower for Michelle and baby Braylin this Tuesday after work. Braylin is 2 months old, and I knew what his name was from the start, so I've had plenty of time to get his name picture done. Why do I always wait until the very last minute to do anything!!!??? It's Sunday evening, 10:54 and I just finished the rough outlines of the drawing. I still need to put in all the detail, and color it with colored pencils. I have to work Monday until 3:30, then I have a Search Committee meeting at church from 7:00 until probably 9:00, then I work Tuesday, and the shower is after work. Hmmm, I don't think she's gonna get it then. Misty's and baby Jacob's shower is the following week, so I'm thinking that Michelle will get her gift then. Maybe I'll be able to get Misty's done when it's supposed to be. ha! ha!

Dominic

Dominic is Molly's baby. A chunk of a kid. She hardly works anymore. Lucky her.

Murphy

This is a "Name Picture" I made for my great, great nephew Murphy. He is soooo cute I can barely stand it. He'll let anyone hold him, smiles, doesn't cry or fuss alot. Just wait till they have a second child. It will be just the opposite.
